I manufactured (from a stainless 10-32 bolt) a pin to replace the stupid roll pin from stock and threaded the hole in the housing. That little stub shaft (above my pin) goes in the strut before the spring a spacer that takes up space and compresses the spring more. It was TWICE as long as this and the struts were almost impossible to compress. It's like they bored the shafts too deep and had to add the spacer - then calibrated it to make the struts almost uncomprressable.
